The Roadrunner patrol was formed to set an example that not only exceeded the standards of Troop 1107 but that will raise these standards to a new level. The patrol consists of scouts who demonstrate strong leadership potential, maturity, and good SCOUT spirit. These scouts will then continue to develop their leadership skills through teaching scouting and leadership skills to the rest of the troop. This patrol will also be responsible for planning events and meetings to focus on advancement for scouts that have achieved the rank of Star or above. The following requirements will be used to screen applicants for this patrol.
Requirements:
*Note: After a scout is accepted into the patrol, he will be presented with a maroon beret at a Court of Honor. This will serve to distinguish the scout as part of this select patrol.
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
The members will be held to a higher degree of conduct.
**Note: Please remember that we are trying to set an example for the rest of the Troop. Disruptive behavior, poor attendance, sloppy and incomplete uniforms reflect poorly on the patrol and reduces the effect that we have on everyone else.
ACTIVITIES:
The types of activities that this patrol does will depend on the interest of its members. The Patrol’s adventurous outings should be at the explorer level. That is why it is a must to have the previously mentioned merit badges to join. These activities will be separate from the troop, and so the patrol must have sufficient support from its members and their parents. Some other activities will include hosting an outdoor Court of Honor and possibly a patrol barbecue.
***Note: The whole point of this patrol is to have fun while learning new things and teaching others.
ADVANCEMENT:
Since most of the members will only be Life Scouts, a record of their trek to Eagle will be kept on each individual within the patrol. The Patrol Leader will have a copy of this record as will the patrol scribe. Within 4 months of becoming a Roadrunner, that Roadrunner should have an approved Eagle project.
